A Side Of Me :
I’m Egyptian, I'm a woman, I'm human, I'm serious, I'm fun, I face the world with a smile and I dream of a world in that in spite of its struggles is uniting. I'm expressing myself through experience, interacting and writing. I will change the world and I will help end the fighting. This is because I am a Global Citizen !
I consider myself a global citizen because I'm aware of the wider world, and have a passionate desire to enrich my life and that of others through a variety of international experiences. I'm globally minded and strive to have first hand information on the happenings in the world.
I'm passionate to live a fulfilling life by harnessing and deploying my capabilities to help positively impact as much as possible. I'm willing to learn and utilize those skills that can help improve my standard of living and that of other people, especially those generations following me, by creating space for initiatives and innovations.
As a global citizen, I see myself as a merchant of hope: speaking to the collective imagination of other people. I exercise my role as a global citizen by taking the responsibility of my actions; I am willing to train myself and teach others through my character, words, articles, and making maximum use of opportunities and by being a part of an amazing international platform called MERIT* where it so happens that I'm one of it's Founding Ambassadors.
I allow my commitment to inspire the commitment of others: aligning and mobilizing others around a shared vision of a better future. I invested a reasonable amount of my time, managing my ethics, character, principles, purpose and motivation. I placed myself strategically, to solve other people’s problems: making myself relevant to their interests and needs. I have been involved in activities aimed at the local people but command global relevance, global citizenship helped me to build and maintain a network of relationships that enhanced my effectiveness. It helped me to develop a sense of identity, self esteem and ethos.
Global citizenship enabled me to tackle injustice. It enabled me to value the earth and safeguard the future; to respect and value diversity. It enhanced my understanding on how the earth works economically, socially, culturally, technologically and environmentally.
As a person, I have to acknowledge the importance and relevance of relevant values, attitudes, personal and social education. I'm entitled to knowledge, skills; values to enable me develop as a global citizen.
Would you join me?
But before you answer, you have to know that global citizenship is not a trend. Global citizenship is a way of life, and if you made up your mind to join me and made the choice, then think globally and start by acting locally
The world is shrinking and we all have the responsibility to help each other around the world and become global citizens. Because the world is shrinking, it means that more than ever before, our actions here (wherever we are) can have consequences for people far away.
It also means that we have more opportunities than ever before, to make a difference whether those consequences are good or bad. We all can do this. Yes, you can do this. Just start thinking, ask yourself this question. What’s your idea to change the world?
Your Idea can be local, national, regional, global, realistic, crazy, innovative, weird, fun, or practical. It can be about human rights, politics and society, environment and science, education, health, sport and/or exercise, sustainability, international development, migration, learning, education, lifestyle, climate exchange, population growth, conflict, cultural exchange, teaching, recycling, diet, social justice, natural resources, curriculum, refugees, community, schools, social mobility, wild life, etc.
It can be about your everyday actions at home, school, work or your local community or it can be about something that would help people many miles away. Your Idea might be so big it seems impossible, but with the support and help of your fellow global citizens on the MERIT* website, your big Idea might just become possible and become a reality.
Also on the MERIT* website your ideas and comments on other global citizen’s ideas can inspire everyone on the MERIT* community to think bigger, better and brighter about how to create the changes they want to see in the world.
